Live mode

The difference between a project you are editing and a cell that is running.

Entering live mode

A project with a cell can be taken live: Stackmill connects to the devices and the operator panels become real. Until then everything is simulated.

The live panels

Live mode replaces the editing panels with the operating ones — state, pallet view, controls, messages. They are documented from the operator's side in Operating a cell, which is the right page to hand to whoever will use them.

Test mode

A cell can be exercised without the hardware: the panels behave as they would, driven by simulated state. Use it to check an operator screen before commissioning, and to train someone without occupying the cell.

Leaving live mode

Leaving live disconnects the devices and returns to editing. It does not stop a running cell — stop the cell first, and check that it has, before you go back to editing a project whose robot is still moving.
