First launch

The start screen

Stackmill opens on a start screen rather than an empty 3D view: recent projects, the demo project, and a way to create a new one. Nothing is loaded until you choose.

Opening the demo project

Start here, even if you have a cell to build. The demo project is a complete, working palletising cell — robot, tool, pallet, recipe, program. Every guide in this documentation is followed inside it, and every screenshot is taken in it, so what you see on your screen is what you see on the page.

It is also safe: it is a simulation, and nothing in it can move a real robot.

Connecting to a robot

A project drives a robot only once you tell it which one and where. That is a cell, and it is set up per project. Until then, everything you do is simulated — which is the right way to build a program.

Where projects are stored

In your own documents, not inside the application. A project is a single file: copy it, mail it, put it under version control. On a server installation, projects live in the server's data folder instead, so that everyone connecting to it sees the same list.
