FAQ

Licences

Does Stackmill need the internet?
Once, to activate the licence. After that a machine with a security module never needs it again. A machine without one checks in regularly and will not start if it cannot.
What happens if your licence server is down?
A machine with a security module is unaffected. A machine without one cannot start — which is one reason a production cell should have a TPM.
Can I move my licence to another machine?
Yes, by asking for a rebinding; a floating licence only needs its seat released on the old machine. See Activate a licence.
What can the demo do?
Everything except export. It edits, saves and simulates, and files it saves open only on the machine that saved them.

Installation

Windows or Linux?
Both, for the desktop application. A server installation runs in Docker.
Do I need a server?
Only if you want operator screens on tablets or several people in the same cell. One person programming at a desk does not.

Programs

Do I have to write robot code?
No. Stackmill generates the robot's own program and you export it. What the exported program contains is in Exporting to the robot.
Can I edit the generated program on the pendant?
You can, and it will be overwritten the next time you export. Change it in Stackmill.

The robot

Which robots are supported?
FANUC today. Other brands are on the roadmap.
Which controller options do I need?
See FANUC controller setup.

The cell

Can two robots share a pallet?
Not today. It is on the roadmap.
How many pallets can a cell have?
One or two stations is the normal case, and what the operator screens are designed around.
