Glossary¶
The words this documentation and the software use, in the sense they use them.
- Cell
- One robot, its tool, the pallets around it and the programs that drive it — everything that makes up one working installation. Also the thing you start and stop.
- Container
- What parts are stacked on or into: a pallet, a box. See Container.
- DI / DO
- Digital input and digital output — the on/off signals the robot controller exchanges with the rest of the machine.
- Frame
- A reference for positions. A position means nothing on its own; it means something in a frame. See Units and frames.
- HOME
- The position the robot returns to between jobs and after a recovery. Chosen so the robot is clear of everything.
- Jog
- Moving the robot a little at a time, by hand, while holding a control. See Moving the robot by hand.
- Payload
- What the tool is carrying. The robot needs it to know how hard to accelerate. See Speed and payload.
- Pendant
- The handheld or tablet screen attached to the robot controller. Stackmill's operator screens run on it.
- Recipe
- One product on one kind of pallet: the box, the pattern, the stack. See Recipes.
- Register
- A numbered slot in the robot controller holding a value or a position. Stackmill writes the ones its programs need.
- REMOTE
- The controller mode in which the robot accepts commands from outside. Without it, Stackmill can talk to the robot but cannot make it move.
- Station
- One pallet position in a cell. See Pallet stations.
- TCP
- Tool Centre Point — the exact point of the tool that the robot positions. Get it wrong and every position in the project is wrong by the same amount.
- TPM
- A security module in the machine. With one, a licence works offline; without one, it does not. See Licences.
- Work zone
- A volume the robot must stay inside, or out of. See Work zone.
