Licences¶
A licence key (APE-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) is entered once in the licence panel, while the machine has internet. The key is then bound to that machine, unless the licence is floating.
With a security module (TPM 2.0)¶
The licence is bound to the machine's TPM and works without internet afterwards. This is the normal case for a production cell: real robot motion is only possible on such a machine.
Without a security module¶
The licence stays online: the software checks in with the licence server every hour and cannot start without it. Such a machine runs simulations only.
Floating licence¶
A floating licence belongs to no machine: each machine that activates it takes a seat, up to the number bought. It stays online, and drives a real robot when the plan allows it. Release the seat or Forget this licence in the licence panel frees the seat at once; the portal frees one too, and a machine silent for 14 days loses its own.
Demo¶
Without a licence, Stackmill edits, saves and simulates. Export is disabled, and files saved in demo mode only open on the machine that saved them.
Education¶
An education licence is a normal licence whose programs stop after a fixed run time. The operator restarts them; the software is complete for teaching and unusable in production.
Hardware change¶
After a board swap or a cleared TPM, the licence panel issues a request that Apemill approves online, or a file to carry to the licence portal when the machine is offline.
